Erde was a victim of the Orcus ritual of living human sacrifice. During the sacrifice, a glitch occurred that caused her to be cursed by some kind of dark magic. Erde killed all the nuns participating in the ceremony that day and roamed around the Land of Abyss, using her newfound powers to attack any living thing she has encountered.
